THE CAMPAIGN

WE ONLY NEED ONE • 1 MILLION DONORS OF $109.00 CAMPAIGN

The Power of One HBCU guarantees every one of the 108 HBCUs an annual unrestricted contribution, with the goal to encourage 1 Million Donors of $109.00 that begins in September 2026, with the final fundraising total to be announced during the week of Juneteenth in 2027.

We are asking supporters to make a one-time automatic donation of $109.00, representing $1 for each HBCU and ensuring yearly contributions for our HBCU community by the HBCU community. Our goal is to raise $1,000,000 for each of the 108 institutions, one donor and one contribution at a time, repeated annually, with 100% of ALL donations accountable.

This HBCU donation campaign brings the community together through HBCU giving, with a shared goal to support all 108 HBCUs.

We respectfully encourage each institution to participate across its campus community, including presidents, board members, administrators, faculty, staff, and employees in every role. The HBCU community is conservatively 5 million strong nationwide and around the world and could generate a potential of $5 million per school every year. That’s the HBCU community alone.

The Power of One HBCU aims to establish an independent financial reserve, replenished annually, to support long-term financial security. Rather than distributing every dollar as it comes in, the fund is structured the way a university endowment is: a modest share is paid out to the 108 HBCUs each year, and the remainder stays invested and continues to grow.

Our long-term mission is to help generate annual financial investment in the future of all HBCUs that will be repeated annually for generational wealth.

In addition, we plan to seek support from professional player unions, associations, athletes, entertainers, musicians, and other public figures who may be willing to volunteer, promote the campaign, or participate in HBCU celebrations during the week of Juneteenth 2027. We are inviting 109 people from each area of expertise, sport, specialty, etc., to represent any one of the 108 HBCUs.

We respectfully invite your participation, support, and leadership as this campaign moves forward. With unity, transparency, and broad participation, we believe this initiative can create meaningful and lasting support for every HBCU to invest in ourselves, $109.00 at a time.

109 BLACK MEDIA MEMBERS

The 109 connection is the result of our campaign launching in 2026, 109 years after the 1917 East St. Louis massacre. Further investigation identified The Argus, a Black newspaper that provided more accurate reporting of the massacre. The significance of this connection is a reminder of our Black history and the importance of knowing the proper source of information: Black media.

THE POWER OF ONE HBCU
SILENT PRAYER STOMP

WE ONLY NEED ONE SILENT PRAYER STOMP is a tribute to the victims of the 1917 East St. Louis, Illinois massacre and all victims of massacres. It will be honored during Juneteenth week on Sunday, June 27, 2027.

In remembrance of the silent prayer held days after the 1917 tragedy, we invite people everywhere to pause together in silent prayer.

At exactly 1:09 a.m., a single STOMP will symbolize the alarm bell at the True Light Baptist Church Tower, which still stands and once warned the community of imminent danger.

This moment is at the heart of the movement — remembering the victims in a positive way while bringing people together through remembrance, uplifting, unity, and the strength of one HBCU family of 108.

1917

East St. Louis became a defining moment in Black history. In the face of violence and loss, a community endured, rebuilt, and refused to let its story disappear. Today, we remember those lives and honor the strength that carried future generations forward.

1960s

HBCU students became a powerful force for change. Through marches, sit ins, organizing, and peaceful protest, young people stepped beyond their campuses and helped shape the Civil Rights Movement. Their courage showed what can happen when education, purpose, and collective action come together.

The Yard

HBCU campuses became spaces where culture, tradition, and community could thrive. Stepping grew into a powerful form of expression, bringing rhythm, precision, pride, brotherhood, and sisterhood together. The Divine Nine helped preserve and carry these traditions across generations.

Today

The Silent Prayer STOMP brings history, culture, and community into one shared moment. It honors those who came before us while reminding us of the responsibility we carry today.

At 1:09 a.m. on Sunday, June 27, 2027, one silent prayer and one STOMP will bring people together in remembrance, uplift, and unity, an HBCU family of 108.
